Who are Family Caregivers?
Spouses, Adult Children, Relatives and even Friends...
More than 22.4 Million Americans provide unpaid help to older or ill persons
Most older persons with long-term care needs, (about 65%), rely exclusively on family and friends to provide assistance. Another 30% will supplement family care with assistance from paid providers.
- Caring for a family member or friend is not easy, nor is it something most people are prepared to handle. There are always questions about a family member's illness or condition. If you have a job and are juggling several responsibilities, or if your family member requires a lot of assistance, you may need help providing care for their loved ones.
- Many Caregivers feel alone, helpless, confused, and unprepared to provide for their family member. Learning about being a Caregiver will help you feel support and more comfortable in your role.
- As selfless as Caregiving is, if you, the Caregiver neglect your own needs and health, then no one benefits. But how do you make time for yourself without feeling guilty?
This expo will provide information and resources for Family Caregivers. There will be professional workshops, over 70 exhibitors and even a spa area to 'pamper' the Caregiver for the day!
